Terry Pratchett - Men at Arms

'Be a MAN in the City Watch! The City Watch need MEN!'

But what it's got includes Corporal Carrot (technically a dwarf), Lance-constable Cuddy (really a dwarf), Lance-constable Detritus (a troll), Lance-constable Angua (a woman...most of the time) and Corporal Nobbs (disqualified from the human race for shoving).

And they all need all the help they can get. Because they've only got twenty-four hours to clean up the town and this is Ankh-Morpork we're talking about...

Additional Notes

Ok then. This is another book about the Ankh-Morpork night watch. This time the watch is drafting in new recruits, even women! Someone has got hold of a nasty weapon with a mind of its own called 'The Gonne'. This roughly translates to 'A Gun'. This was kept originally in the Assassins Guild and it looks as though the Fools Guild, next door, have broken in and taken it. This leads to a wild goose chase trying to find the culprit who seems to be mercilessly murdering innocent Ankh-Morporkians.

This is a long, but thoroughly enjoyable book. I like the detective genre of media, be it books, TV, Films or whatever, I like it. It is a real dream come true for this to be combined with Terry Pratchetts literary style, adding wit to a serious genre. This book is highly recommended...
